Drug and Alcohol Detox

New Day Drug Center offers medically monitored drug and alcohol detox in a home-like environment. Our medical teams use the latest evidence-based approaches to make sure this period is safe and as comfortable as possible. During detox, we manage the physical changes that occur in the brain and body after repeated alcohol or drug use while providing the highest level of comfort and support. Depending on which drug detox center you choose, we may use the following approaches, among others, to ensure a safe and comfortable detox:

Comprehensive Assessments – Your treatment team will conduct physical exams and assessments to determine the most effective detox protocols based on your drug(s) of abuse, medical history and individual needs.

Round-the-Clock Care – You’ll be monitored around the clock by staff that will check vital signs and make sure that you feel comfortable and cared for. We’ll be there to promptly attend to any discomfort or concerns.

Medications – Our physicians may prescribe research-backed medications as clinically appropriate to ease the physical and psychological symptoms of withdrawal.

Home-Like Comfort – Far from a stark, hospital-like environment, our drug and alcohol detox facilities are home-like and welcoming. You’ll enjoy comfortable furnishings and warm décor in soothing settings.

Alternative Approaches – Some of our drug detox programs incorporate alternative approaches to help manage withdrawal symptoms. Some of these may include:

  • Massage Therapy – Massage therapists use specific techniques designed to alleviate the muscle cramps and tension that can accompany withdrawal and allow you to feel calmer and more attentive as you begin the work of recovery.
  • Acupuncture – We partner with acupuncturists who draw on traditional Chinese medicine techniques to address pain, insomnia, anxiety, digestive issues and other complaints that may accompany withdrawal and early recovery.
  • Neurofeedback – During drug detox, many clients find that neurofeedback helps to reduce pain, anxiety and drug cravings, improve concentration, and restore sleep. Early on in the treatment of addiction, neurofeedback may help you establish healthier patterns of brain activity.

Alcohol and Drug Detox Tailored to You

Like the rest of the treatment experience at New Day, drug detox is carefully tailored to your specific needs. Recognizing that some clients may not be able to benefit from beginning treatment while in detox, you’re not required to participate in structured groups or other programming. However, if you are ready to begin substance abuse treatment and are cleared by our medical team, we encourage you to begin attending groups and therapy sessions during detox.

Why Our Detox Programs Are Successful

If conducted improperly or without medical supervision, detox can be painful, even life-threatening in certain cases. The discomfort of withdrawal is one of the primary reasons people leave treatment early or put off treatment altogether. Research indicates that a significant percentage of clients in addiction treatment programs do not get past the detox stage.

At New Day, nearly all of our clients complete detox and move forward with their recovery program. That’s because we use evidence-based approaches to make detox as gentle and comfortable as possible. You’re in good hands with our compassionate, expertly trained medical teams.
